Duties
- Responsible for the preparation and cooking of regular and therapeutic foods.
- Ensures correct portioning and attractive presentation of foods.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of standardized recipes.
- Responsible for sanitary food handling and proper storage of food.
- Responsible for cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Assists in requisitioning supplies.
- Participates in meetings to discuss food/menu related matters.
- Provides courteous and tactful customer service to residents, families, staff, visitors, and other patrons.
- Participates in fire drills, evacuations, and other safety measures.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an Ontario Apprenticeship program for the Certified trade of Cook, together with a minimum of 3 years experience as an Institutional Cook
- Successful completion of the food handler training program as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
- A genuine understanding of the needs of the elderly is required
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Demonstrated ability to practice good lifting and safety and sanitation techniques
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
Must be willing to work shift work, including weekends and holidays
Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
Must pass work fitness test
Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Skilled Misconduct Declaration Process
Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
