Security Installation Technician – AV Works (St. Albert, AB)

AV Works is an established Audio‑Visual and Security Integration company serving Edmonton and surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced, customer‑focused Security Installation Technician with hands‑on expertise in DSC alarm systems and/or Alarm.com platforms.

Position Overview

This role involves installing, configuring, and servicing residential and commercial security systems. Typical work includes alarm panel installation, sensor placement, structured cabling, surveillance camera setup, NVR configuration, and client training.

Required Technical Experience

- Minimum 2 years installing and servicing security and surveillance systems
- Direct experience with DSC PowerSeries / Neo / iotega and/or Alarm.com systems (mandatory)
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and device layout plans
- Strong troubleshooting skills for field diagnostics and repairs
- Competent with hand tools, power tools, and construction‑site workflows
- Familiarity with IP video, networking basics, and camera/NVR configuration (preferred)

Role Responsibilities

- Install, program, test, and train clients on alarm and surveillance systems
- Perform additions, removals, upgrades, repairs, and inspections
- Complete service orders accurately and on schedule
- Maintain detailed job notes and task tracking
- Measure, mark, and drill precise locations for sensors, cameras, and related devices




- Work safely and professionally on active construction sites and occupied homes
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong client relationships
- Represent AV Works with reliability, organization, and attention to detail

Competencies

- Technically confident and able to work independently
- Strong time‑management and prioritization skills
- Computer‑savvy with comfort using mobile apps and cloud‑based platforms
- Clear communication skills in English (spoken and written)

Minimum Requirements

- High School Diploma (Vocational/Technical training preferred)
- Thorough understanding of security and surveillance systems
- Valid driver’s license + clean Drivers Abstract
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must live within 50 km of Edmonton
- Must provide basic hand tools
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Pay is based on experience and skill set. Job Type: Full-time Schedule: 8-hour shift Mon – Fri, 9:00 – 5:00
