Job Summary
MINISO Canada is currently expanding and we are looking for an Senior Accountant to support our finance operations across multiple store locations and corporate functions.
Work Location: North York, ON
Salary Range: Starting from $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and reconciliations.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury management activities.
- Review and reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany transactions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Merchandising, Retail Stores,
and Management to support business objectives.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff when required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation completed or in progress is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- Experience with month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query preferred).
- Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in retail, distribution, wholesale, or multi-location environments is considered an asset.
