The City of Lethbridge recognizes the diversity of our community and is working to ensure programs, services, facilities, and employment opportunities are inclusive to all people.The OpportunityThis is a unique opportunity for an accomplished Curator working in a term capacity to showcase their talents in developing and maintaining engaging exhibitions the Galt is widely recognized for.The RoleReporting to the CEO/Executive Director, the Curator is responsible for the care, exhibition, interpretation and acquisition of artifacts related to southwestern Alberta human history. This will include the research and development of exhibitions and collections; the recommendation of acquisitions; and the supervision of the physical care and exhibition of the collections and loaned material. You will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of western Canadian history, as well as museum best practices and standards,



and will conduct scholarly research related to the collections, the production of exhibitions, presentations, and publications. The Curator will supervise and provide direction to departmental staff and volunteers. The Curator may also assist with budget and grant preparation relative to this area.Your Professional Skill SetThose interested in this opportunity should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Canadian History and a minimum of five years of Curatorial work experience, ideally with some museum administration background. Our successful candidate will have extensive experience in community engagement with diverse communities.
