Required Education

Required Skills, Experience, & Abilities

- Python and SQL coding skills.
- Experience building machine learning and statistical models.
- Experience building scalable data pipelines using PySpark.
- Experience building machine learning models in Python and working with large-scale distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Hadoop.
- Experience with data management and data mining using SQL, including performance optimization, data pipeline development, and quantitative analysis.
- Previous work experience in data science, ideally in the payments or cybersecurity-related industry.
- Excellent quantitative, technical, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate client and stakeholder needs into technical analyses and/or solutions.
- Ability to communicate results and business impacts of analytical initiatives to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across product, engineering,



marketing, operations, and legal.
- Self-motivated, curious, and able to operate with a sense of urgency.

Desired Skills, Experience, & Abilities

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Familiarity with the payment card industry, fraud, and cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with web crawling and scraping using Playwright or other frameworks.
- Strong presentation skills and an incisive understanding of customer needs.

Role Services within client is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. The organization provides value-added services and leverages expertise, data-driven insights, and execution. The Cyber Analytics team within the Security Solutions Data Science organization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to drive advanced analytics initiatives, improve fraud detection capabilities, and support strategic decision-making across cybersecurity and payment fraud domains.

The role involves developing innovative data-driven analytical solutions, including predictive models and machine learning algorithms, using large volumes of data across products, markets, and services.

The position requires robust Python, SQL, machine learning, statistical modeling, and PySpark capabilities, along with the ability to collaborate across product, engineering, operations, marketing, and legal functions. The Senior Data Scientist will translate stakeholder needs into technical solutions and clearly communicate analytical results and business impact to senior leadership and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Lead data science projects focused on cyber analytics and fraud detection to guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.
- Build, develop, and maintain predictive models, machine learning algorithms,



and other data-driven analytical solutions using large volumes of data.
- Support analytics and reporting needs across products, markets, and services.
- Identify compromised payment accounts through internal and external data feeds.
- Scan payment activity at merchant locations for anomalies.
- Track common points of purchase associated with compromised cards.
- Assess additional data sources for potential value.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Translate client and stakeholder needs into technical analyses and solutions.
- Communicate analytical results and business impacts to senior leadership and stakeholders.
