You will be part of a team that provides children, youth, and adults of all ages a sense of belonging in their community.The OpportunityThe YMCA provides employment support services to both jobseekers and employers. We provide one-to‑one and group services including needs assessments, career planning, job search support, and job development services.Reporting to the Manager, the Job Search Assistant supports youth ages 13–16 in learning about career development through the Head Start program. The Job Search Assistant will also help job seekers who come into the resource centres for services.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Nova Scotia Works staff to learn about the day‑to‑day operations of NS WorksWork in the resource centre, signing clients in, printing jobs for the job board, and helping clients with faxing, photocopying, scanning, and computer useRespond to incoming phone calls and online inquiriesAssist clients with updating resumes, online job searching,



and job applicationsReview Head Start applications for the summer job search programSelect youth participants and ensure their paperwork is completed and up to dateWork with the Head Start Coordinator to ensure all equipment is ready for virtual trainingAssist with the facilitation of Head Start materialsProvide supervision and guidance to youth attending the job search campQualifications & SkillsCriminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (if over 18), with the ability to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of First Aid and CPR trainingThis is a Canada Summer Jobs‑funded position.
