Water is a fast-growing Canadian consumer-products company. We've built a connected water system that combines hardware, consumable products and technology — and we're entering the most important stage of our growth so far. Our direct-to-consumer business is expanding, we've secured significant retail commitments with major retailers in both Canada and the United States, and we're scaling manufacturing and inventory to support it.

We're building Bello deliberately with a small team of exceptional people who take real ownership.

The simplest way to describe this role: own the relationship between cash, inventory and profitability. We're a high-growth startup. We're raising capital, investing aggressively into growth, and not yet cash-flow positive.

We manufacture physical products through international partners with long lead times, sell through both D2C and retail, and use debt and PO financing to fund inventory. That makes cash management and visibility one of the most important priorities in the company — and it's the core of this role. This is a finance-first position with deep involvement in supply chain, retail economics and financing.

It is not a traditional controller or back-office reporting role. You'll work directly with the founders and executive team, own the finance function end to end, and build the financial and operational infrastructure Bello needs to scale. Cash flow, working capital and financial management — the #1 priority.

You'll own the company's cash position and cash-flow forecast on a weekly, monthly and long-term basis: maintaining a clear view of runway, tracking major obligations, monitoring budget vs actuals,

and flagging risks well before they become urgent. For every retail contract, you'll model the full cash cycle — when inventory is purchased, when suppliers are paid, when product ships, when the retailer pays us, how long cash is tied up, how much financing is needed and what the account is really worth after financing costs. You'll also oversee the broader finance infrastructure — accounting, AP/AR, budgeting, reporting and controls — but the highest-value part of the job is using finance to actively run and improve the business, not just report on it.

Inventory and supply-chain financial planning. You won't manage freight or warehouses day to day, but you'll determine the financially optimal way to run our supply chain: what to order, when, and how much — balancing stockouts against excess inventory, volume discounts against cash tied up, and lower COGS against financing cost. You'll work with long-lead-time components, supplier deposits, MOQs, production schedules, reorder points and safety stock.

The thinking we're looking for sounds like: "If we secure twelve months of our longest-lead-time components upfront, we can shorten future production cycles, delay drawing debt until later in the cycle, and cut months of interest expense." Cost optimization, financing and external partners. You'll turn analysis into action: breaking COGS down by component, modelling purchase volumes, comparing suppliers, and negotiating pricing and payment terms — including directly with our China-based manufacturing partners. You'll work with banks, lenders and PO-financing partners to structure our facilities, comparing offers on total cost rather than headline rate, and deciding when financing should be drawn.

Cash-flow and inventory dashboards, retailer-level profitability,

cash-conversion models, forecast-vs-actual reporting, scenario planning. An experienced finance professional with real operational and supply-chain depth — more finance professional with deep supply-chain experience than supply-chain professional with some finance. Someone who has managed cash in businesses where it was genuinely constrained, not companies that always had excess liquidity.

You might currently be a Supply Chain Finance Manager or Operations Finance Manager, a Finance Business Partner supporting supply chain, a Commercial Finance or FP&A; Manager in an inventory-heavy business, a Controller who has outgrown the boundaries of that title, or a Director of Finance at a smaller consumer-products company looking for a broader mandate. Strong finance background with excellent financial-modelling skills Significant hands‑on experience managing cash flow and working capital Experience in an inventory‑heavy business with physical products Retail experience — payment terms, margins, deductions and sell-through economics Experience modelling inventory and supply‑chain decisions (lead times, MOQs, reorder points, purchase commitments) A track record of building systems and processes from scratch Clear communication with senior leadership — recommendations, not just numbers Experience with debt and working‑capital financing: inventory or PO financing, credit facilities, asset‑based lending, or working directly with banks and alternative lenders International manufacturing experience, especially negotiating with China‑based suppliers COGS optimization, procurement or sourcing experience Bello is at an inflection point: retail commitments are signed, U.You’ll have meaningful ownership of one of the most critical areas of the company, direct exposure to the founders and executive team, and real influence over major decisions — which suppliers we use, which retail terms we accept, how we finance growth.

Compensation may include the prospect to participate in our employee stock option plan. This role is hybrid, combining work from home with time in our Montreal office.
