Our client is seeking a Senior Full stack engineer on a contract basis to design and deliver scalable APIs, modern web applications, and cloud-native solutions. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring solid technical leadership, deep experience with event-driven architectures and microservices, and the ability to work iteratively in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Location: Markham Hybrid, 4 days onsite per week

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and implement highly scalable APIs and full-stack applications.
- Build contemporary web solutions using React, NestJS/Node.js, and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures and microservices for distributed systems.
- Deploy and manage cloud-native applications using Azure Container Apps, Azure API Management (APIM), and Docker.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, Pulumi, or similar technologies.
- Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions.
- Plan and manage code merges, branching strategies, releases, and production deployments.
- Develop detailed deployment plans and support production releases.
- Build observable applications using Azure monitoring, logging, tracing, and telemetry.
- Leverage feature flags and modern deployment practices to enable rapid, incremental releases.
- Use secure AI-assisted development tools while adhering to security and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate solution options and drive technical decisions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and production issues.
- Take strong ownership of delivery and adapt quickly as business requirements evolve.

Requirements





- 10+ years of experience designing and building scalable APIs.
- 8+ years of modern web application development experience, including React and Node.js frameworks; NestJS preferred.
- Strong experience developing scalable Spring Boot APIs.
- Deep understanding of event-driven architecture and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Container Apps, APIM, Docker, and Azure DevOps CI/CD, or comparable AWS technologies.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, Pulumi, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience managing branching strategies, code merges, releases, and production deployments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts and lead solution discussions.
- Strong ownership mindset with a focus on shipping production-ready solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with incremental and changing business requirements.
- Ability to work onsite in Markham four days per week.

Nice to Have

- Experience developing discounting or rules engines.
- Experience with TanStack within React applications.
- Experience producing technical design documents and solution-option analyses.
- Experience with Application Insights, Log Analytics, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, and telemetry-driven troubleshooting.
- Experience with Agile delivery tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO) and JIRA.
- Experience planning technical debt remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong technical leadership, planning, organization, communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to balance speed of delivery, engineering excellence, technical trade-offs, and competing priorities.
