Join Legal Aid BC as an Indigenous Community Legal Worker in Victoria, BC. This full-time role emphasizes advocacy, outreach, and legal support for Indigenous communities.

The ideal candidate will serve as an Advocate/Paralegal within the Parents Legal Centre (PLC). You will address legal and non-legal issues impacting Indigenous clients, focusing on family and child protection matters. Effective communication and collaboration with community members and agencies are crucial to successfully facilitate legal aid services and uphold principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:



• Assess and review client intake materials for legal applications • Develop solid connections with Indigenous communities and stakeholders • Educate communities through workshops on legal rights and services • Support clients in accessing comprehensive LABC legal services • Attend court with clients and collaborate with legal representatives

Requirements: • Grade 12 plus post-secondary education in relevant fields • Minimum 5 years experience in a legal setting • Effective English communication skills • Culturally competent approach to client interactions • Preference for candidates of Indigenous ancestry
