Our Health, Safety & Environment group is currently growing and is looking to add aSite Safety Advisorto the team, supporting multiple construction sites outside of the Guelph / Kitchener / Brantford area of ON .Reporting to the Regional Safety Supervisor, this position provides in person support to supervisors, foremen and workers in the field and coordination of the day-to-day safety requirements on Valard’s Construction sites. It monitors, audits and reports findings and corrective actions to leadership as well as provides administrative assistance with matters relating to safety. Ultimately, it plays an important role in ensuring that Valard’s safety culture has been established and adhered to in the field.Please Note: This position will cover multiple sites in Jarvis and Elora, ON. A valid Drivers License and ability to travel between sites is required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesBe a visible presence and safety resource in the field to ensure a safe work environment for all Valard employees, contractors, and visitors as per the Site Safety Management Plan (SMP)Facilitate weekly safety meetings, capture minutes and prepare weekly / monthly safety reportsProvide support to the supervisors and foreman to ensure that JSAs are developed and reviewed with the crews and available at the work siteDevelop a robust understanding of Valard’s Health Safety and Environmental ManualCommunicate, coach and assist field staff to ensure that all safety expectations are metParticipate and assist the supervisors and foreman in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actionsParticipate in regular meetings with project safety teams to review issues,
trends and upcoming conditions or events to ensure safety obligations are carried out as per client agreement and communicated to the Project Manager and SupervisorsReview tailboards daily to ensure that hazards are addressed, and a mitigation process is in place; provide feedback to workers to assist them for compliancePerform observations, inspections, emergency preparedness drills, as per the current HS&E Manual and review and communicate the findings via safety meetings and postingsRegularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation, and applicable standards and inform Project Manager(s) of any relevant changesRequirementsPost-Secondary education in a Safety related field3 years’ experience in a field safety positionA combination of education and experience may be consideredExperience with Microsoft office applicationsExperience dealing with client requirements and providing administrative assistance with matters relating to safetyMust have a valid driver’s licensePreferred Skills / QualificationsNCSO (National Construction Safety Officer Certification), CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) or other Health & Safety certificationDemonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislationsRoot cause investigation experienceBenefitsThis position offers an hourly rate of$35 - $45, depending on experience and qualifications.We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.#J-18808-Ljbffr
