FNHA OverviewThe First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization that supports self‑determination and decision‑making to improve health outcomes for BC First Nations.PositionTitle:Nurse Coordinator, Communicable Disease ControlSalary:$52.38 - $64.26 per hourContract:Casual Term until December 31, 2026Hours:8:00 am – 4:00 pm Mon‑Fri (core hours 9:00‑3:00)Location:Alberni office (Remote considered), Metro Vancouver – hybrid working option.Bargaining Unit:PIPSC BCFNHA GroupAbout The RoleAs a casual nurse coordinator you will provide flexible, short‑term coordination and clinical public health support across a range of communicable disease activities for First Nations communities. Responsibilities include policy development, program support (MCH, STBBI, CD, Immunisations), and surge capacity. You will contribute clinical expertise to planning, coordination, and delivery of FNHA CDC initiatives and mentor FNHA and First Nations Community Health Nurses in public health priorities. You will collaborate with permanent CDC coordinators and partners, liaise with the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), regional health authorities, and community partners to support surveillance, public health and communicable disease practice. This role promotes culturally safe communicable disease management grounded in community strengths and Indigenous wellness.About YouWe seek a nurse with robust public health knowledge, adaptability,



and experience in CDC management who is committed to respectful partnership with First Nations communities.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognised university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Successful completion of approved public health nursing or communicable disease control (CDC) training.Occupational CertificationCurrent practising registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).ExperienceThree to five (3‑5) years of experience in public health nursing or communicable disease control.Knowledge And AbilitiesApplication of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.Knowledge of planning, coordination and delivery of public health programmes, especially communicable disease control and prevention.Skills in at least one focus area within communicable disease prevention programmes, such as STI/BBP/Harm Reduction, TB or Immunisation.Computer applications and data management skills.BenefitsAs a casual employee you will not receive the Employer’s benefit plan, vacation or designated holidays; instead you will receive a 13% premium for all straight‑time hours worked.FNHA is committed to respecting diversity within its workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis.All FNHA staff complete San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training and develop a yearly wellness plan as part of performance partnership and goal‑setting.#J-18808-Ljbffr
