A major focus of the work is to always be a positive role‑model and to assist the participants in a manner that encourages them to reach their agreed upon goals.Primary ResponsibilitiesTransport youth to and from appointments (medical & other), to pay bills, to and from the grocery store.Provide direction, support and participation in daily chores.Helping young people develop and implement household routinesRecord keeping and report writing as required, including monthly reportsEnsuring that all receipts for items purchased with company funds are forwarded to the program supervisorProvide first aid interventions as requiredWorks as part of a team to ensure consistency in the youth’s experiences with The LinkSpend one‑on‑one time with the youthIdentify and assist with life skills developmentActive involvement with the youth in family and communityEncourage and participate in cultural activitiesAssist in developing and implementing plans for special occasions such as birthdays or holidaysHelping youth with meal planning, grocery shopping and cookingAdhere to and encourage safe food handling,



cooking and clean upTeach the youth budgeting and shopping techniquesAssist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the office space and the vehiclesReport damage or concerns with the building and vehicles to the program supervisorAssist with all procedures and routines related to health and safety of staff and youthAdvocate for a healthy and safe environment for young peopleParticipate in the assignment of any other job‑related tasks as requested by the supervisor or managerExperienceDemonstrate a good understanding of the Child and Family Services system in Manitoba, particularly in the context of Indigenous communities and the impacts of inter‑generational and historical trauma.Knowledge, awareness and respect of Indigenous cultures, languages, traditions, and practices organization’s mission and valuesDemonstrated understanding and appreciation for issues and concerns of Indigenous peoples within a child welfare environmentAbility to handle sensitive situations and confidential information in a multi‑disciplinary team environmentMust have knowledge, experience and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditionsMust provide services through an Indigenous lens that is holistic and focuses on the strengths and experiences of Indigenous children, youth, families and communitiesKnowledge of history and impact of intergenerational barriers and oppression faced by Indigenous peopleKnowledge of systems for children in care, school, family functioning and child welfare preferredKnowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to operate in a networked workplace, which may include writing incident reports,
