Position: Senior Python Developer
Duration: 12-month assignment (contract through December 24, 2026 (renewal into 2027 once budgets are approved in November)
Client Location: Toronto, Ontario(3 days per week)
Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)
About the Engagement
Akkodis is seeking the services of an experienced Senior Python / SQL Cloud Migration Consultant to support a large-scale cloud transformation initiative within a leading Canadian institutional investment environment. The engagement involves collaborating with software developers, data engineers, and investment professionals to migrate critical analytics, applications, and data engineering assets to enterprise Snowflake and Azure cloud platforms. The successful consultant will be a proactive problem solver with robust communication skills, a bias for action, and the ability to independently drive work forward in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Services to be Provided
Develop data and cloud migration frameworks to accelerate the migration of analytics, applications, and data assets to Snowflake and Azure cloud platforms.
Support the migration of databases, stored procedures, Python solutions, and related data engineering assets to cloud environments.
Maintain and enhance software solutions and infrastructure supporting trading, execution, research, and investment analytics functions.
Contribute to software engineering and data engineering best practices, standards, deployment methodologies, and cloud governance activities.
Design, develop, test, and deploy new solutions in support of Capital Markets and investment management teams.
Build and optimize data engineering solutions, including ETL processes and data pipelines.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, development activities, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Research emerging technologies and provide recommendations regarding technology adoption opportunities.
Effectively communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to technical and business stakeholders.
Expertise Required
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Minimum 4 years of software design and development experience.
Strong expertise with Python and SQL.
Experience migrating data engineering assets and applications to cloud platforms.
Hands-on experience with:
Databases & Data Engineering: Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Stored Procedures
Cloud Technologies: Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Containers: Kubernetes, Docker
DevOps / Agile Tools: Git, Jenkins
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Experience working within Agile environments and modern software delivery methodologies, including Continuous Delivery, Scrum,
and Test-Driven Development.
Financial services or capital markets industry experience.
Nice to Have
Experience with C# development.
Experience with React, Flask, FastAPI, or Django.
Experience migrating web applications to cloud platforms such as Azure and AKS.
Experience building data analytics platforms, ETL solutions, and data pipelines.
Experience with Airflow, Astronomer, DBT, or SSIS.
Experience with Power BI reporting solutions.
Experience working with financial market data providers such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or S&P; Xpressfeed.
Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and/or CFA candidacy.
