This role leads a team of commercial Business Analysts and supports the Commercial Account Management team in achieving sales targets in loans, mortgages, deposits, and fees, with the objective of driving a great member experience.RoleLead, coach and support team of commercial Business Analysts, strengthening technical skills, business knowledge, performance, and communication of key changesSupport Business Analysts in conducting annual reviews of existing members and maintain annual reviews/renewals/delinquencies within targeted levelsWork closely with the Account Management team to assess new business opportunities to achieve expected revenue and growth targetsSupport commercial credit transactions by structuring and negotiating deals, preparing credit writeups, reviewing files, collaborating with the Credit Department to secure approvals within risk guidelines, and providing sound recommendations supported by detailed financial, business,
and credit analysisMonitor and manage the commercial lending portfolio to ensure adherence to risk and policy guidelines, including oversight of risk-mitigating strategies, audit considerations, and the preparation and maintenance of reporting for senior leadershipCommunicate with members on a day-to-day basis, responding to questions and inquiries regarding products, services, and adviceMaintain a strong understanding of local market activity, competitive positioning, and relevant economic and industry trendsOversee the collection and compilation of information required to monitor the commercial loan portfolioBe aware of enterprise risk management issues as they relate to lending services and bring forward strategic and risk issues for discussion, review and solutionsMaintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures as they pertain to the operations of lending servicesTruly believe in our products and services and be able to communicate to business members and future business members how we can improve their financial livesConsider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well-being of self and others Perform other duties as requiredRequired SkillsHave a post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration,
Commerce and/or Economics or an equivalent combination of educationand industry experienceHave a strong business acumen with 4-6 years of experience in Business/Commercial banking or experience from other member-facing and/or Credit adjudication rolesHave 3+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwritingDevelopment and Construction underwriting experience is considered an assetStay abreast of all credit and investment product and services and stay current on our processesBe confident and skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, developing plans and taking the lead in making plans a realityEnjoy a challenge in all that you do and be resourceful in the way you find solutionsBe quick to respond to requests for service from all your clients and team members, with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsBe aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and proceduresBe extremely comfortable using a computer (particularly MS Office, Word and Excel)Be willing to work flexible hours and travel throughout the region to accommodate business needs, networking and community involvementEmbrace the philosophy of lifelong learningThis role is hybrid in St. Catharines, ON.This posting is for an existing vacancy.Salary Range: $93,677 to $128,806 annually.Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity.
