Senior Staff Accountant – Assurance

$75,000–$90,000 | Hybrid / Remote | Ottawa Hennessy Collective is partnering with an established Ottawa public accounting firm to add an experienced Senior Staff Accountant – Assurance to its growing team.

This is a great opportunity for a CPA who enjoys public practice and wants to continue building their assurance experience — but also values flexibility, mentorship and a firm culture that genuinely supports work-life balance.

You'll take ownership of review and audit engagements, work directly with clients, and have exposure to a broader mix of accounting, tax and advisory work. What You'll Be Doing

- Lead review and audit engagements from planning through completion
- Prepare compilation engagements and corporate tax returns
- Coordinate client information and keep engagements moving efficiently
- Work closely with managers and partners throughout engagements
- Identify accounting, tax and process improvement opportunities for clients
- Prepare accurate, organized working paper files in accordance with professional standards
- Support engagement planning, workflow and deadline management
- Contribute to internal process improvements and broader firm initiatives
- Continue developing your technical expertise across accounting, assurance and taxation

What We're Looking For





- CPA designation with membership in good standing with CPA Ontario — required
- Minimum 3 years of recent public accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with review and audit engagements
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and auditing standards
- Working knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax
- Experience with CaseWare, CCH TaxPrep, QuickBooks and/or Sage 50
- Strong client communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- Leadership potential and an interest in continuing to grow within the firm
