Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Environmental Engineer, Scientist, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist to join its collaborative team in Calgary, AB. This individual will serve a key function in providing site exploration activities, including soil borings and monitoring well installations; conducting field tests; collecting field data and samples; monitoring construction sites; and compiling data and preparing reports. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, solve problems and overcome challenges in restoring the environment and returning blighted properties to productive re-use while protecting and enhancing the environment. Job Responsibilities

- Assist with the planning and execution of environmental field investigations by conducting field tests, collecting environmental samples, recording data, and performing routine calculations;




- Monitor complex construction and remediation projects to evaluate compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and approved work plans;
- Collect soil, soil vapour, indoor and ambient air, sediment, surface water, and groundwater samples;
- Operate, maintain, and optimize groundwater and soil vapour treatment systems;
- Assist with obtaining permits, approvals, and regulatory authorizations, and support compliance with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal requirements related to site investigation and remediation activities;
- Review and interpret environmental, geological, hydrogeological, and historical records to support environmental due diligence and contaminated sites assessments;
- Prepare a variety of technical field documentation, including drilling logs, daily field reports, monitoring records, and chain-of-custody documentation;
- Identify and implement solutions to routine and complex field challenges, accurately document observations, and keep project managers informed of issues encountered during assignments;
- Lead tasks associated with the preparation and revision of technical reports, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, remedial action plans, and other engineering and environmental deliverables;
- Perform and manage tasks within established project budgets and schedules and assist with project tracking and forecasting;
- Interact professionally with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders in coordination with project leadership;
- Supervise or coordinate the work of junior staff, field technicians, interns, and other team members as needed; and
- Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology,



or a related discipline;
- 4+ years of related experience in contaminated sites investigation, engineering feasibility studies, remedial and mitigation system design, and construction oversight;
- For engineers, registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta, or eligibility to obtain registration within one year;
- Experience conducting Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments, including drilling oversight, environmental sampling, monitoring well installation, and remediation/construction oversight;
- Experience performing small- and large-scale groundwater treatment system design, operation, maintenance, and optimization;
- Experience supporting litigation, regulatory, or expert witness matters, or similar technical investigations;
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, including contaminated sites management and remediation requirements;
- Experience working with provincial regulatory agencies and stakeholders;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team workplace;
- Availability to work overtime as needed;
- Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and field assignments, and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing.
