The Mustard Seed is seeking aWarehouse Associate and Driverin Kamloops, BC.The Warehouse Associate & Driver is primarily responsible for receiving, screening, and sorting donations. Reporting to the Thrift Store Manager, the position will also pick up donations, deliver requested items to Mustard Seed facilities, and deliver purchases to thrift store customers. The Warehouse Associate & Driver will also prepare and display merchandise in the store, as well as assist with customer service. As this position interacts directly with donors and volunteers, the position is responsible for providing a positive experience for all who visit The Mustard Seed.Employment Type:Regular Part-timeSchedule:Selected Weekdays 9:00 a.M. to 4:30 p.M. and Saturday from 10:00 a.M. to 4:30 p.M. (16 hours per week)Reporting to:Thrift Store ManagerCity:Kamloops, BCNumber of Positions to Fill:1Salary : $22.00RFR #:1564MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Fulfill the mission and values of The Mustard Seed and maintain a high level of professionalism, respect and gratitude with all staff, donors, volunteers, community members and visitors.Responsible for the pickup and delivery of goods between donor locations and Mustard Seed facilities.Assist in receiving and processing donated items by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, bailing and pricing.Communicate the story of The Mustard Seed’s ministry and develop rapport, through intentional interactions with volunteers and donorsSeparate and process recycling and garbage, including into truck for removal.Achieves daily performance goals by accurately counting, weighing, and documenting all incoming donationsEnsure the Thrift Store and Warehouse are a safe environment for staff, volunteers,
and customers by following the organization’s health and safety policy and procedures.Ensure opening and closing procedures are followedSupport the onboarding and training of new volunteers, foster a positive and respectful environment, and ensure volunteers feel appreciated and recognized for their contributionsFulfill donation pickups and furniture deliveries, following donation safety guidelines.Perform routine loading and unloading of delivery trucksMonitor retail layout and display with frequent walks throughout the shop daily to maintain organization and cleanliness, color blocking, and regular updating of floor displays to attract customers to the storeKeep stock rotated as per schedule or as directed by the Thrift Store ManagerProvide a high level of customer service through sales assistance, answering and returning phone calls, and informing customers of our policies and procedures.Helping to load items into vehicles for customers as neededContribute to a positive workplace culture.Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel matters.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSMinimum 2 years of experience in a retail sales or customer service roleMinimum 1 year of commercial driving experiencePossesses a valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driving record and relevant experienceBasic understanding of computers and Microsoft Office programsStrong communication (written and verbal)
and conflict resolution skills.Self motivated and ability to work independently and within a team.Experience working in a volunteer-based organization is considered an asset.WORKING CONDITIONSMust be able to continuously lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of regular job dutiesDriving required.Working environment will include indoor and outdoor activities.Rapid-paced environmentThis position requires moderate amount of mental effort to analyze information and problem solve.Work involves regular physical activity, including loading, and unloading delivery trucks, as well as moderate walking, climbing, standing, sitting, lifting, and carrying throughout the dayDaily interactions with colleagues, community participants and donors.Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times, which could result in them uttering threats, discriminatory statements, and other insults at your person. This may in a raised voice, or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressiveTraining on how to respond is provided, but this is to be considered typical working conditions.
