Overview

We are looking for a Service Technician to join our team and become an important part of our service department. Our technicians maintain and service a variety of septic and wastewater treatment systems, including systems we have installed as well as systems we have taken on for ongoing service.

This is a hands-on position that involves completing annual maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, responding to trouble calls, and ensuring septic and wastewater systems are operating properly. You will operate a company Transit van and travel to residential and rural properties throughout the service area.

The successful candidate will be trained directly alongside an experienced Service Technician. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with their hands, willing to learn, and able to work independently once properly trained.

Duties

- Complete annual maintenance and servicing of septic and wastewater treatment systems
- Inspect system components and assess overall system operation
- Remove, clean, and reinstall system components as required
- Pressure wash tanks, components, screens, filters, and other equipment
- Clean and maintain pumps, floats, filters, screens, aerators, and other system components
- Perform function tests to verify that pumps, floats, alarms, controls, and other components are operating correctly
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues
- Respond to customer trouble calls and investigate system problems
- Complete repairs and component replacements as required
- Take readings, record findings,



and document maintenance and service work
- Communicate findings and recommendations to customers in a professional manner
- Operate a company Transit van and safely transport tools, equipment, and materials
- Maintain service vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working condition
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Follow company safety procedures and properly use required PPE
- Work alongside an experienced Service Technician during training and progressively take on more responsibility

Qualifications

- Previous experience in septic, wastewater, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or general maintenance work is an asset but not required
- Mechanically inclined with an interest in learning how different systems and components work
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
- Comfortable working with pumps, motors, piping, electrical components, and mechanical equipment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working in confined or unpleasant environments when required
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and performing hands-on work throughout the day
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions




- Valid driver's licence and a clean driving record
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Able to work independently and manage multiple service calls throughout the day
- Robust communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians

Training No previous septic experience is required. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training alongside an experienced Service Technician. Training will cover our different septic and wastewater treatment systems, annual maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, component testing, repairs, and safe work practices.

As you gain experience and confidence, you will progressively take on service calls and maintenance work independently.

The work can be dirty and physically demanding, and no two service calls are necessarily the same. A willingness to get your hands dirty, troubleshoot problems, and provide quality service to our customers is essential.
