The journeyman level Machinist works under the general supervision of the Lead Hand and reports to the Foreman in the Machine Shop. As a skilled tradesman, the incumbent will provide quality customer service. The Machinist will adhere to design specifications to produce quality products by machining parts used to manufacture, or repair, various heavy equipment attachments in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks
Working under the general supervision of the Lead Hand, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Workplace Safety
Complies with all safety rules and practices as set by Occupational Health and Safety, WBM and any and all other relevant safety regulations and requirements
Customer Service
Provides quality customer service to internal clients
Responds to requests in a prompt and expeditious manner
Produces quality workmanship on finished products
Machining
Suggests machining procedures
Reads and interprets blueprints
Follows directions given, drawings and work orders
Checks parts for defects
Operates and uses various machine shop equipment and tools safely at all times, which includes some or all of the following: (including manual and CNC)
lathes
mills
boring mills
drills
saws
machining centers
Maintains and repairs equipment as required
Other Duties
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Education
Alberta Journeyman Ticket in machining or equivalent
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of related experience
Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of all safety practices
In-depth knowledge of all tools and equipment and their use and care
Skills
Communication skills to read, write, listen, and speak in a explicit and concise manner to individuals at various levels
Interpersonal skills work collaboratively with others
Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all deadlines
Organizational skills to plan out and coordinate his or her work in a logical manner
Analytical skills to identify problems and find a solution, or seek advice from the supervisor
Abilities
Safety conscious
Follows instructions thoroughly and uses valuable judgment
Demonstrates solid work ethics (attendance, punctuality, reliability, honesty, etc.)
Physically fit to lift items weighing up to 20 kg.
Night Shift Schedule is Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 2:30 AM
