Seasonal Deckhand - Tailings, Imperial Oil Kearl Lake

Acden Aves is an Indigenous environmental company that operates an array of deterrents for the purposes of keeping birds and wildlife away from the tailings ponds and other process-affected water bodies around site. We are currently seeking a (boat) Deckhand to join our team at the Imperial Oil Kearl mine.

The Deckhand will:
Assist the Captain with the operation of, and general duties aboard vessels on tailings ponds.
Deploy and maintain effigies, anchors, oil booms, and barges.
Re-fuel vessels and other equipment.
Perform housekeeping and general maintenance of the vessels.
Assist tailings crew with various tasks such as mudline sampling and hazing of water fowl.
Assist the Biologists as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Relevant experience, abilities, and training required for this position includes:
PCOC (pleasure craft operator certificate) or the SVOP (small vessel operator proficiency) is required.




Must be able to comfortably and repeatedly lift 50 LBS, and pass a pre-site access drug and alcohol test.

This job is camp-based, 14 days on, 14 off. You must be able to fly from either Edmonton or Calgary and get yourself to either airport at your own expense.
