Thai Basil Restaurant (Broadway) is seeking an experienced, diligent, and hands-on Cook to be part of our culinary team. This is an exciting prospect for a passionate cook who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is committed to delivering exceptional Thai cuisine.

As a Cook, you will oversee most of the kitchen operations and work closely with management to ensure an outstanding guest experience.

Position Type
Full-time (40 hours a week)

Working Hours

Shifts vary based on operational needs and include mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Salary: 24 CAD an hour.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure every dish meets Thai Basil's quality, presentation, and consistency standards.
Monitor food quality throughout service and provide coaching when needed.

Kitchen Operations
Manage food preparation, production schedules, and service flow.
Develop efficient kitchen procedures to maximize productivity.
Control food costs, portioning, waste, and inventory levels.

Food Safety & Compliance
Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization at all times.

Qualifications/Experience
Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience in a Thai Food restaurant.




Experience with inventory management, food costing, and labour scheduling.

Skills & Abilities
Solid knowledge of Thai culinary techniques and ingredients (mastering flavors, knife cutting, heat management, and others).
Able to cook a variety of traditional and authentic Thai Meals, including (but not limited to) Pad Khing, Pad Ped, Pad Mee, Pad Kee Mao, Pad See-Ew, Pad Prik Khing.
Experienced using the Wok to create the smoky, charred aroma, at the right temperature, as well as keeping vegetables crispy.
Ability to prepare jasmine rice and sticky rice using Thai steaming methods.
