Construction Labourer / Carpenter Helper

Engel Custom Homes is looking for a dependable Construction Labourer to support our Lead Carpenter and Site Supervisor on custom residential construction projects.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in keeping a job site organized, works well as part of a crew, and is willing to learn and assist with a wide range of carpentry work. We are looking for someone who can recognize what needs to be done and take initiative—not someone who needs to be directed through every task.

Responsibilities

- Assist the Lead Carpenter and Site Supervisor with daily construction activities
- Support framing, exterior finishes, decks, blocking, backing and general carpentry
- Measure, cut, carry and install construction materials under direction
- Maintain clean, organized and safe work areas
- Set up and protect work areas before construction begins
- Perform site cleanup and material handling throughout the day
- Organize tools, materials and deliveries
- Assist with demolition and disposal of construction debris
- Install temporary protection, fencing and site signage
- Help unload and stage building materials
- Identify low materials, unsafe conditions or site issues and report them promptly
- Follow company procedures, site rules and supervisor instructions
- Complete other general construction duties as required

- Basic construction or carpentry experience is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with common hand and power tools is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are strongly preferred
- Personal hand tools and basic PPE are considered an asset
