Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Social Worker - BSW $35.137 to $42.966

: Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. This is a position that treats youth affected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.

Experience

- 1 yr recent exp. in a community MH setting working w/ children, youth & families
- Min 1 yr postgrad recognized clinical exp in community mental health setting

Education

- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Knowledge and Abilities

- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions




- Ability to design, initiate and conduct training for other professionals
- Ability to formulate evidence-based intervention based on clinical presentation
- Knowledge of assessment, triage, treatment and case management.
- Ability to provide public education regarding children/youth mental health issues
- Ability to manage a high demand caseload and other work assignments.
- Can function independently & as member of interdisciplinary mental health team
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
- Ability to identify, implement & evaluate areas of client difficulty
- Broad knowledge of mental health community resources.
- Ability to document in a concise and timely manner
- Knowledge of normal child & adolescent development & psychopathology
- Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems

Other Information

- Can work flexible schedule; ability to work shifts based on operational needs.
- Requires a valid driver’s license. May require access to a vehicle for work.
- Must have current practicing registration with SASW.
