? Location: Fully Remote Quebec or Ontario
? Type: 6-month contract (with option to extend)
? Language: English
? Start Date: Immediate
About the Company
Join a cutting-edge engineering team working at the intersection of real-time software, networking, distributed systems, and professional audio.
This project powers mission-critical audio-over-IP solutions used by professionals across broadcasting, live production, and enterprise environments worldwide.
You’ll contribute to a professional-grade, low-latency platform running across Windows, Linux, and macOS, working on challenging systems-level problems involving real-time processing, networking, synchronization, and cross-platform software development.
About the Mission
We’re looking for an intermediate C/C++ Software Developer with strong experience in multithreading/concurrency, network programming, and performance-sensitive systems.
You will work on real-time, network-based systems and contribute to technologies including WebRTC, RTP/UDP, AES67, and PTPv2 precision synchronization.
A background in professional audio is not required. We are particularly interested in developers who have built high-performance, real-time, distributed, embedded, or networked systems and are comfortable working close to the operating system and hardware.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement high-performance C/C++ software for real-time systems
- Develop and optimize multithreaded and concurrent applications
- Design and maintain network communication using UDP/TCP and other low-latency protocols
- Integrate networking and real-time communication technologies such as WebRTC and RTP
- Work with distributed systems requiring precise timing and synchronization
- Investigate and resolve complex concurrency, timing, performance, and synchronization issues
- Optimize software for low latency and predictable performance
- Develop and maintain cross-platform software for Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Work with embedded Linux and hardware-integrated systems when required
- Develop APIs and system integrations using technologies such as gRPC, Protocol Buffers, REST, HTTP, and TLS
- Contribute to software architecture, technical design, debugging, and documentation
- Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of professional experience developing software in C and/or C++
- Solid experience with multithreading, concurrency, synchronization, and thread-safe programming
- Strong understanding of network programming, including TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, or similar technologies
- Experience developing performance-sensitive, real-time, embedded, or systems-level software
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, particularly for complex concurrency, timing, or performance issues
- Experience with Linux and/or other Unix-like operating systems
- Experience with cross-platform development is highly valued
- Familiarity with modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or newer)
- Experience with build systems such as CMake
- Ability to understand and work with complex existing codebases
- Strong written and spoken English for technical documentation and remote collaboration
- Lock-free programming and atomic operations
- Must reside in Quebec or Ontario, Canada
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with real-time audio, DSP, multimedia, or low-latency streaming systems
- Familiarity with real-time communication and network media protocols, such as WebRTC, RTP, UDP, AES67, or Dante
- Experience with precision synchronization and distributed systems, including PTP / IEEE 1588
- Familiarity with modern system integration technologies, such as gRPC, REST, Protocol Buffers, HTTP/TLS
- Experience with embedded Linux, CMake, multimedia frameworks, or performance-oriented systems development
