Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world.We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our Cryogenics group in an experienced level role to support technical activities and provide technical guidance for early career personnel.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:GeneralProvides expert technical support within Department and across TRIUMF as requiredApplies knowledge/skills to a range of complex projectswithin scope of group/department including coordination of maintenance, break fix, upgrades or projectswithin a TRIUMF cross-boundary project under the broad guidance of scope leaderResponsible for objectives with potentially year to multi-year time frame which may impact multiple teamsResponsible for making routine and none-routine decisions related to project and team member rolesWork can includeSolving problems of diverse scope requiring advanced technical and analytical skillsCoordination of complex technical projects under the general oversight of a project leader.Authors and Reviews documentation central to group or project objectivesLeads development of methods and techniques as required by group aims or projects and mentors junior colleagues in the proceduresSpecificCoordinates complex troubleshooting/support for the on-line Cryogenic systems primarily in ISAC-II and e‑Linac but can also support activities in other TRIUMF cryogenic systems.Coordinates complex support including hardware/system design for lab focussed R&D within the TRIUMF Cryogenics groupProvides coordination of procurement, parts preparation and final assembly of complex work for others projectsSUPERVISION EXERCISED:Individual contributor role with no requirement for line leadership of othersExpected to provide guidance, training, and mentorship to other employees within the job areaProvides work direction to junior technicians and/or operatorsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Requires advanced knowledge in area of expertise, including approaches and technical conceptsFully qualified, expert technical level with demonstrated experience in technical leadership and proficiency. Regarded as a site expert in a particular domain.The position requiresthe ability to work on problems of diverse scope requiring advanced technical and analytical skillsthe ability to develop methods and techniques to obtain solutions for complex problemsthe ability to makes routine decisions related to project and team member rolesNUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER (NEW):Some work will require access to exclusion areas where there are activated components. The position requires the incumbent to be trained by TRIUMF as a NEW. This is required to access and work in areas that are limited to NEWs, as well as for planning and conducting work in radiation environments.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Technical certification and 4+ years of related experience,
