: Reporting to the Manager of Staff Safety, the Staff Safety Specialist is accountable for the application of safety practices and standards to protect, promote and maintain the health & safety of the SHA. The incumbent is also responsible for the implementation of the SHA Management System that would support the existing Safety Program, with the intent of exceeding minimum standards in Health & Safety. The Specialist is responsible to ensure consistent application of all Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, The Saskatchewan Employment Act, any applicable standards, employers policies and practices and provides consultation, training, development & implementation of a variety of resource options for safety and injury prevention which are in alignment with the organization strategic plan, goals & values and are in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

This position ensures workplace incidents are fully investigated, that the data is analyzed, trends identified and corrective actions are appropriate and completed by managers and supervisors.

In addition, this position provides ongoing consultation with SHA departments utilizing department safety plan frameworks guided by the SHA Management System in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) Safety Management System.

License





- Valid Class 5 driver's license

Experience

- 3-5 yrs experience developing, delivering & evaluating quality/safety education, incident investigation, root cause analysis, coaching and mentoring of stakeholders.
- Experience in program review and development is an asset

Education

- Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety or
- Occupational Health and Safety diploma

Other Education and Training

- Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain instructor level training status
