About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join McKesson's Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in providing advanced data product architecture, engineering, and analytical insights to support strategic initiatives.
The Senior Data
Engineer will collaborate across multiple teams, including data scientists, analysts, BI developers, and platform architects, to design, develop, and deploy data solutions that enable smarter decision-making and operational efficiencies.
This position plays a key role in modernizing our supply chain organization by facilitating rapid AI/ML experimentation and operationalizing successful use cases. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in cloud-native data engineering, data architecture, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business value. You will be instrumental in building scalable, governed, and high-performance data products that align with enterprise standards and support McKesson's strategic growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of extensive experience in data engineering,
focusing on building comprehensive data solutions and products. Additionally, a proven track record of at least 3 years in data architecture is essential, demonstrating the ability to enable enterprise-wide data initiatives.
Expertise in cloud platforms, specifically Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake, is mandatory. Hands-on experience with designing and managing cloud-native data warehouses, data pipelines, and advanced analytics solutions is critical for success in this role. Strong understanding of data modeling, metadata management, and data governance frameworks is also required to ensure data quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy cloud-native data applications and pipelines using Azure and Databricks to support advanced analytics and digital capabilities across pharmaceutical business domains.
- Manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products. Promote best practices in metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design.
- Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to ensure data product designs align with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and governance frameworks.
- Define, implement, and enforce standards for data quality, performance, and scalability. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to global data engineering teams.
- Establish standardized dimensional models such as Facts and Dims, ontologies,
and semantic structures to ensure interoperability and consistency across data domains.
- Apply AI-enabled SDLC practices and automation tools to improve system performance, reduce technical debt, and accelerate delivery timelines for data products.
- Drive seamless data integration across various platforms, champion modernization efforts utilizing Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
