We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant & Payroll Administrator to join our team.
This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and related administrative functions across a fast-paced, multi-location business environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, takes ownership of their work, and is comfortable independently managing accounting and payroll responsibilities while ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Process employee payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review payroll data and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll records, including hours worked, deductions, vacation pay, and other payroll-related information.
- Set up new employees for payroll and ensure accurate payroll onboarding.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports.
- Calculate and remit HST, payroll taxes, and other required government remittances.
- Maintain organized and accessible financial documentation.
- Assist management with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis as required.
- Coordinate with external accountants and other professional advisors when required.
- Assist with general administrative and ad-hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or a similar role.
- Robust understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and general accounting principles.
- Experience preparing financial statements and completing month-end reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience processing payroll.
- Knowledge of HST and payroll remittance requirements.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills & Quickbooks.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with multi-location or multi-entity businesses is considered an asset.
- CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset but is not required.
What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, and takes ownership of the accounting function. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, identifying discrepancies, maintaining accurate records, and providing management with reliable and timely financial information.
Pay: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
