Postdoctoral Fellow (Mitacs-Funded) – AI in Emergency RadiologyVancouver Imaging is seeking a Mitacs-funded Postdoctoral Fellow to lead applied research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and emergency radiology, in collaboration with Vancouver General Hospital, a high-volume Level 1 trauma center serving over 900,000 patients annually. This position is embedded within a large-scale research initiative aimed at improving diagnostic efficiency and patient outcomes through AI-enabled imaging workflows. The successful candidate will focus on early phases of a multi-stage project involving the creation of a disease-specific CT imaging database and the development of infrastructure to support secure data handling and AI model validation. Specifically, the fellow will design and implement secure pipelines for transferring de-identified DICOM imaging data, develop and optimize data processing workflows, and establish systems for testing and validating existing AI models within a clinical imaging environment. The role requires designing and implementing machine learning models for diagnostic imaging tasks, building scalable data pipelines for large imaging datasets, coordinating data preparation and annotation processes, and collaborating closely with radiologists, engineers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure integration of AI tools into clinical workflows. Additional responsibilities include tracking project milestones, communicating progress to stakeholders, contributing to grant development, and leading dissemination activities through peer‑reviewed publications and conference presentations. The broader program includes future phases focused on novel AI model development and prognostic modeling,

providing opportunities for continued research expansion.Candidate Eligibility and QualificationsPhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on AI/MLStrong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlowExperience with machine learning pipelines, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluationFamiliarity with image processing tools (e.G., OpenCV) and large-scale data handlingExperience with cloud platforms (e.G., AWS) is an assetFamiliarity with medical imaging workflows (e.G., DICOM) and clinical terminology is an assetDemonstrated ability in project management, including tracking deliverables and stakeholder communicationStrong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to translate complex technical conceptsMust be eligible to work in CanadaCompensationSalary: $60,000 CAD annuallyBenefits package includedThree-year funding opportunity, renewed annually based on performanceVancouver Imaging is the largest subspecialty academic radiology group in British Columbia, with fellowship-trained radiologists across multiple domains including neuroradiology, trauma, cardiovascular imaging, and interventional radiology. The organization is committed to advancing innovation in medical imaging, improving diagnostic access and efficiency, and delivering high-quality care across diverse populations in alignment with provincial and national healthcare standards. This Mitacs-funded position offers a unique prospect to work at the interface of academia and clinical practice, contributing to translational AI solutions that directly impact patient care.#J-18808-Ljbffr
