Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist (Band 8B) to join the multidisciplinary team on Beechdale ward, an older people inpatient unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the psychology service on the ward, including service development, evaluation and supervision of the Assistant Psychologist.Provide psychological assessments (cognitive, risk, clinical) and interventions in evidence‑based practice for older people with dementia and complex mental health problems.Support ward staff with psychological formulation, advice and training to deliver psychologically‑informed care.Contribute to the transformation of older people’s wards, applying change‑management and leadership skills.Maintain governance, risk management and information‑governance procedures.Engage in research, audit and service improvement activities.Key Result AreasDevelop and maintain therapeutic relationships, including group work, with complex clients.Provide autonomous, specialist assessments using psychological and neuropsychological tests, interviews and observations.Formulate and implement treatment plans, manage care coordination and discharge processes.Communicate complex information to clients, families and multi‑professional teams in an empathic manner.Conduct risk assessments to inform multidisciplinary care decisions.Deliver flexible service, including outreach to health centres and home when appropriate.Person SpecificationEssential personal attributesAbility to travel within the Trust as required.Essential knowledge & skillsProficiency in complex psychological assessment, intervention and management.Change‑management skills and knowledge of at least two specialised psychological therapies.Excellent written and verbal communication of complex, technical, and clinically sensitive information.Risk assessment,
