We are seeking a well‑rounded project manager, with a solid construction background. We are willing to train a talented and energetic person, with strong leadership and management abilities, who does not yet meet all the currently desired skills and abilities. Smithers has a vibrant community spirit and has many opportunities for families such as good schools and plenty of extra curricluar opportunities such as a wide variety of sports and arts organizations.Summit Camps, www.Summitcamps.Ca, is part of the Black Diamond Group https://www.Blackdiamondgroup.Com/Job PurposeReporting to the General Manager, the Construction Project Manager is responsible for general oversight of the project portfolio, management of construction staff, implementation of the company health and safety system as relates to construction projects, project development and execution.Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership and management support to the General ManagerImplement the corporate OH&S policies and procedures within the project and project teamManage and direct employee base to execute construction and camp installation projects ranging from light industrial stick frame construction to full envelope design build industrial construction projects such as vehicle maintenance shops, emergency vehicle storage garages,



arctic corridor construction and temporary camp module installationExecuting projects with goal of maintaining or improving company profitability, quality of deliverables, and company reputabilityBe the lead in project logistical and operational needs as they arise; troubleshootingWork with HR as needed, for recruitment, employee evaluation and non-complianceRole is partially field based at active projects as designated by the GMSupport GM to create estimates for construction/camp projectsDevelop operational and auditing procedures for camp maintenance and construction staffEnsure the construction operations are running efficiently, safely and to planLead, develop and supervise teamsAssist other managers as requested, time permittingManage Summit fleet as it relates to insurance, National Safety Code (NSC) compliance, vehicle maintenance, vehicle repairs, and fleet procurementAdditional tasks as time permitsQualificationsDesired Skills and AbilitiesModular construction industry experience would be idealFive plus years progressive managerial experience, including project management experienceDemonstrated experience creating, leading and developing successful work teamsStrong leadership abilities with demonstrated results,



able to take a lead and make things happenThree plus years of experience creating estimates for construction/camp projects would be ideal but not requiredCollaborative team playerAdvanced, professional and well‑rounded communication skillsStrong critical thinking and analytical skillsResourceful and creative problem solverMust possess a current Class 5 driver's license, with a good driving recordEducation And ExperiencePrefer related skilled designation such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent education and/or experienceJourneyman certification for ITA Red Seal or equivalent carpenter certification is considered an assetMinimum of 3 years in a project management roleWorking ConditionsThis is a salaried position and as such, is not limited to a forty‑hour work week. The position workload is split between office work and field work depending on project timelines and needs. Regular travel is required to be present at the work site for shifts of length up to 3 weeks long. Evening and weekend work are required to meet workload and operational needs.Physical RequirementsWork is often field based with long work shifts and long workdays. There will be a need to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Field supervision will require good physical mobility and could include hiking to work sites and a variety of forms of transportation. Ability to conduct construction tasks such as repetitive hammer motion, lifting heavy and awkward construction materials, and lengthy repetitive motion such as flooring fastening are all aspects of the job.Compensation$90,000 - $120,000 rangeComprehensive health, dental, disability and life insurance plan after 90 days of employment#J-18808-Ljbffr
