Working closely with the Director, Philanthropy and Partnerships,



and the broader development team, this role supports relationship‑based fundraising across individual, foundation, and corporate portfolios, with a strong focus on stewardship, proposal development, and donor engagement. The Development Officer will work closely with senior staff and external funders, gaining exposure to foundation, corporate, and partnership fundraising strategies.This position is well suited to a relationship‑oriented fundraiser with 2–10 years of experience who is eager to deepen their fundraising skills and contribute to a mission‑driven organization advancing mental health systems across Ontario through relationship‑based philanthropy and partnerships.Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesFundraising & Donor EngagementSupport individual, foundation, and corporate fundraising activities, including prospect identification, research, and cultivation.Assist in developing and implementing donor stewardship and engagement strategies.Participate in donor meetings, calls, and engagement activities, as appropriate.Grant & Proposal SupportAssist with the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals, letters of intent, and sponsorship requests.Coordinate proposal timelines, internal inputs, and supporting documentation.Support preparation of budgets, narratives, and funder reports in collaboration with development, program, and finance teams.Stewardship, Reporting & SystemsPrepare donor acknowledgements, stewardship materials,



and impact updates.Track funder deliverables and recognition requirements.Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).Collaboration & Organizational SupportWork collaboratively with colleagues across programs, communications, and events to support integrated fundraising efforts.Attend IAM events as required to support donor and stakeholder engagement.Participate in development meetings and revenue tracking discussions.Perform other related duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceQualifications & ExperienceUniversity degree in a relevant field (e.G., fundraising, communications, business, social sciences) or equivalent experience2–10 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related role within the nonprofit or charitable sectorExperience supporting proposal writing, donor stewardship, or prospect researchStrong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills and comfort building relationships with diverse stakeholdersSensitivity to issues affecting individuals and families impacted by mental illnessAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a teamTechnical SkillsWorking knowledge of donor databases (e.G., Raiser’s Edge or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Familiarity with online grant portals is an asset.Work EnvironmentHybrid work environment combining remote and office‑based work at our corporate office in TorontoOccasional local travel for meetings or eventsThis is a permanent, full‑time position working 35 hours per week with a competitive benefits package.
