About the Role

Civicon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join its growing estimating team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career construction professional looking to develop a long-term career in civil construction. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced estimating, operations, and project management professionals while gaining hands-on exposure to infrastructure and transit projects.

The Junior Estimator will assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, drawing and specification reviews, tender preparation, bid submissions, and other activities throughout the estimating process.

This role requires an organized and motivated individual with strong attention to detail, an eagerness to learn, and an interest in developing their technical knowledge of civil construction and estimating.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Junior Estimator’s duties include, but are not limited to:

- Assist with preparing detailed quantity take-offs for civil construction projects.
- Assist with preparing labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project cost estimates.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, tender documents,



addenda, and other project information.
- Assist with the preparation of bid submissions, tender packages, and supporting documentation.
- Obtain and organize quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors as required.
- Assist with reviewing and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Maintain organized estimating files, quotations, pricing information, and supporting documentation.
- Support senior estimators throughout the bidding and tendering process.
- Assist with identifying project scope requirements, potential risks, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process.
- Coordinate with estimating, operations, project management, and other internal departments as required.
- Participate in estimating meetings, bid reviews, and project handover meetings as required.
- Assist with maintaining historical pricing, estimating databases, and project information for future reference.
- Ensure estimating documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within required deadlines.
- Develop an understanding of Civicon’s construction methods, estimating procedures, project requirements, and industry standards.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and documentation.




- Perform other estimating and project-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous co-op, internship, estimating, construction, or project coordination experience is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs, and construction terminology.
- Ability to review and interpret construction drawings and project documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with estimating, take-off, construction-management, or drawing-review software is considered an asset.
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, CMiC, or similar systems is considered an asset.
- Previous exposure to civil infrastructure, transit, concrete, sewer and watermain, industrial, or commercial construction is considered an asset.
