Primary Purpose
The table worker will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and assembly of materials such as fabric, leather, or synthetic materials to produce SLG’s, handbags, backpacks or small luggage items for Roots' iconic leather goods. Table workers must stay focused and diligent to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently, contributing to a smooth production process. As a table worker, you will prepare materials, use templates, and assist with organizing components for the sewing process.
To ensure success in this role, you should demonstrate a strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of material handling and assembly procedures. An excellent table worker will be proactive in maintaining a clean, organized workspace and assist with troubleshooting minor issues that may arise during the preparation process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with but not limited to: taping, applying adhesives, gluing, hand-cutting, painting, folding/ bending, applying snaps, skiving, turning/shaping bags or components, separating/matching materials.
- Work with water-based paint to edge pieces of leather for bag production.
- Work with water-based glue to adhere specific panels, pockets, lining, et. of leather products.
- Required to use various tools and machinery to complete tasks.
Not limited to hammers, scissors, industrial staplers, glue machines, stamping machines, etc.
- Assess the quality of leather panels for the product as per Roots Leather Factory standards.
- Follow instructions from your team-lead and collaborate with the production team to ensure all materials and components are prepared and organized for the next steps in the manufacturing process.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials (e.g., leather, glue, paint) and notify your team lead or the floor coordinator when supplies are low to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Support other departments/ teams when required to meet production needs.
Job Specifications
- Able to: lift/push up to 40lbs of material, bending, hammering leather, turning bags, working stand and/or sitting for the working hours, perform repetitive movements, twisting material, pressing parts.
- Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
- Organizational, time-management and multitasking skills are an asset.
- Fast learner with a can-do attitude.
- Reliable with a valuable attendance record and a focus on punctuality.
- Able to work extended hours as required to meet business demands.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
