Mechanical Layout DesignerThe OpportunityAs aMechanical Layout Designer, you will play a key role in the design and optimization of layout for heavy industrial projects across the subsector. You will collaborate across teams and provide hands‑on experience with preparing 3D models and layout arrangements for plant upgrades and new facilities, reviewing drawings and designs, developing process diagrams, site plans through to detail.This position will be located in one of ourCanadianoffices with preference for Northern Ontario.Your ImpactPrepare 3D models and layout general arrangements for existing plant upgrades and new facilitiesReview vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs prior to fabricationPrepare design calculations and design briefsPrepare design sketchesConduct trade‑off studies and prepare reportsParticipate in field engineering assignmentsPrepare all design work related to layout general arrangements and equipment model developmentCoordinate with other disciplines to ensure timely and accurate flow of design information while maintaining departmental and client standardsMaintain and revise equipment libraries, department standards, and proceduresAttend model reviewsThe Skills That Set You ApartCollege Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent8+ years experience in mechanical engineering design specifically with experience in layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projectsStrong understanding of mechanical equipment installation requirements in the fieldMust have consulting experienceProven experience with Plant3D, Revit, Microstation, SolidEdge and SmartPlantStrong communication skills (written and verbal)French language skills (written and verbal)
