Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, this role provides outstanding personalized food and beverage experiences to all Aquarium visitors and internal guests. Working in a fast‑paced high volume quick service restaurant setting, the Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage oversees the day‑to‑day operations in all Food and Beverage outlets and offers ongoing coaching and training to the team, maintains a cohesive working environment and ensures the team has all resources required for the operational success of the Outlets. Promptly addresses all visitor and guest feedback/concerns. Assigns tasks and follows up with the team as necessary. Has an impeccable eye for detail with a constant focus on safety and sanitation. Assists in departmental administrative duties; Working closely with our culinary team and other departments within the Aquarium to ensure all visitors and guests have a positive memorable experience. The Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage is representative of the Vancouver Aquarium and acts as a “tour guide” to all our guests and visitors.AccountabilitiesCreate a positive, friendly and welcoming environment for every visitor, guest and team memberEnsure all team members have the necessary resources for operational successCommunicate with team to ensure they are provided with any updates or changes to menus, policy, Aquarium news etc.Oversee and lead the safety and sanitation standards and protocolsBe the champion of all standards set out by the AquariumManage inventory levels, reconciliations and orderingAssist with and answer general visitor questions of programs, events, orientation and any other Vancouver Aquarium related inquiries. Act as a “Tour‑Guide” within the AquariumConfidently discuss all our food and beverage offerings and assist with any dietary restrictionsMaintain a consistent positive demeanor in all circumstancesEnsure all visitor and guest feedback is promptly addressed and rectifiedAdopt the motto “if it is not right,



we will make it right”Anticipate visitor and guest needsProvide operational assistance and support to the Manager, Food & Beverage:Review and approve team members’ timesheetsOversee day to day operations in the outlets and/or cateringAssist in performance evaluations and staff one‑on‑onesContribute to departmental goalsAssist with the daily operations of the various food outlets and catering & events:Oversee the daily operation within the Food and Beverage outlets & Event OperationsEnsure all products delivered to visitors and guests are of exceptional qualityAssist with staff training and developmentProvide ongoing feedback and coaching to the teamDelegate and assign tasks as necessaryAssist in financial reporting and communicationReview daily schedule and role assignments – adjust as neededEnsure all outlets have the required resources for operational successChampion of all health and safety protocolsSet up and service day time cateringEnsure high quality product experience is received by all visitor to the food outlet:Ensure all visitor and guest requests are fulfilled and accurate prior to deliveryEnsure all satellite stations are clean and fully stockedMake certain the cafes and surrounding areas are clean and organizedEnsure proper rotation of all food and beverage itemsJob RequirementsMinimum 2 years of Food & Beverage Assistant Manager/Manager experienceMinimum 1 year hotel and or catering experience is an assetServing It Right certification is requiredFood Safe certified is requiredClear background check is requiredPossess strong leadership and people supervision skillsMust be a motivated self‑starterTake initiative and see tasks through to completionStrong time management skills with the ability to prioritizeExcellent customer service and communication skillsPossess strong problem solving and decision‑making skillsBe an organized leader and lead by exampleAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to safely lift, move and carry a variety of objects up to 30 lbsMust be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays and special events outside regular operating hours as scheduled.Salary Range$54,600 TO $74,100 PER ANNUM#J-18808-Ljbffr
