Become an Indigenous Student Support Worker at Baldonnel Elementary, focused on enhancing Indigenous students' educational and cultural well-being while ensuring academic success. This 15-hour weekly role supports teachers and Indigenous communities in meaningful ways.
The Indigenous Student Support Worker collaborates closely with educators and Indigenous Education Centre staff to meet the social, emotional, and educational needs of Indigenous students. Your responsibilities include developing support schedules and maintaining accurate student records, acting as a liaison between families and the school. You will also facilitate culturally relevant experiences for students, helping them thrive academically and culturally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect Indigenous student self-identification forms
• Create support schedules with site Administrative Officers
• Maintain accurate student records
• Provide academic support in various classroom settings
• Organize culturally relevant experiences for students
Requirements:
• Grade 12 education or equivalency
• 1 year experience working with Indigenous communities
• Access to reliable transportation
• Solid interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and perspectives
