Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Utilities Maintenance Worker to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Utilities Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Utilities Operations, in this unionized position you will perform semi-skilled sanitary sewer construction, maintenance and repair tasks. This position performs a variety of tasks while assisting crews and exercising independent judgement, initiative and protected work practices.
Responsibilities
Lift station wet well cleaning and maintenance
Station and force main air valve maintenance
Blowdown, valve and fan maintenance
Sanitary sewage pump and storm water pump maintenance
Lift station and mobile generator maintenance
Perform related work as required
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by training courses and sound experience in water or sanitary sewer construction and maintenance tasks or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools/equipment used in sanitary sewer construction, repairs and maintenance
Considerable knowledge of the hazards,
safety precautions and standards applicable to utilities operations
Ability to stay current with advances in sanitary sewer maintenance, repair and construction techniques
Skill in the use and care of a variety of tools and equipment used
BC Driver’s License Class 3 with Airbrake Endorsement or BC Driver’s License Class 5 (full privilege) with Heavy Trailer Endorsement (Code 20) are considered assets
Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License.
