Empower marginalized women as the Skills Development Coordinator with the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in Vancouver, BC. Oversee volunteer programming and facilitate engaging activities focused on personal growth and community support.
As a temporary full-time role, the Coordinator will be essential in recruiting, orientating, and scheduling volunteers while collaborating closely with DEWC staff. This position requires a solid understanding of issues affecting women in the Downtown Eastside, including gender-based violence, mental health, and trauma-informed care. You will develop and evaluate cultural, social, and educational programs designed to meet the diverse needs of shelter members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Recruit and orient volunteers and peers
• Facilitate programs and activities for shelter residents
• Collaborate with staff to provide essential services
• Assess and evaluate program effectiveness
• Maintain efficient organizational and administrative records
Requirements:
• 2+ years experience in a non-profit environment
• Proven program development and facilitation skills
• Knowledge of community resources and support services
• Understanding of trauma-informed care approaches
• Familiarity with issues impacting women in the dtes
