destinationone Consulting | Direct Placement

Surrey East, Canada

destinationone Consulting has been retained by Sana Advisory Group , in partnership with CI Assante Wealth Management Ltd., to recruit an experienced Financial Planner to join their growing wealth management team in Surrey and Abbotsford, British Columbia.

About the Organization
Sana Family Office is a boutique wealth management practice that has been serving affluent individuals, families and business owners for more than 30 years.

The firm provides highly personalized financial guidance across wealth management and family office services, helping clients navigate both their personal and business financial lives. Its approach brings together financial planning, investment management, risk management and long-term wealth strategies through trusted, enduring client relationships.

Operating within the CI Assante Wealth Management platform, one of Canada’s leading wealth management firms, Sana Family Office combines the personalized approach of a boutique practice with the resources, infrastructure and regulatory framework of a nationally recognized organization.

The team is collaborative, relationship driven and deeply committed to doing excellent work for the right clients.

The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced Financial Planner who wants to spend more time genuinely advising clients and less time operating within a traditional sales or product-driven environment.

Reporting to the Senior Wealth Advisor, you will take primary advisory responsibility for a segment of client families while supporting other relationships across the practice.

You will work closely with clients to understand their financial circumstances, goals, investment objectives, risk tolerance and broader personal and business priorities. From there, you will develop meaningful financial strategies, build and implement portfolio recommendations and remain actively involved as those plans evolve.

This is a hands-on advisory role for someone who values long-term relationships, thoughtful planning and seeing financial recommendations through to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of client families and as secondary advisor on other client relationships

Develop a deep understanding of clients' personal and business circumstances, financial goals, risk tolerance, risk capacity and investment objectives

Create comprehensive personal and business financial plans, wealth strategies and recommendations

Build and implement appropriate portfolio recommendations

Guide clients through financial plans and help translate recommendations into meaningful action

Provide ongoing account oversight, client follow-up and reporting, recommending adjustments as circumstances evolve

Work with financial planning software and internal resources to develop comprehensive client strategies

Collaborate closely with senior advisors, other financial professionals and administrative team members

Coordinate with clients' accountants, lawyers and other professional advisors as required

Support accurate client record keeping, regulatory compliance, reporting and tax-related processes

Participate in client appreciation events, educational workshops and seminars

Maintain current industry knowledge through continuing education and professional development

Contribute to a cooperative, solutions-focused and continuously improving team environment

Requirements

Minimum five years of experience in a client-facing financial advisory or financial planning role

Strong financial literacy and demonstrated experience creating comprehensive financial plans and strategies

Robust understanding of investments, portfolio construction, financial planning principles and wealth management

Experience using modern financial planning software and related wealth management technology

Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Strong ability to build trust and long-term relationships with clients

High degree of accuracy, organization and attention to detail

Strong judgment and ability to make thoughtful, well-reasoned decisions

Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of client needs and responsibilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business systems

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a closely integrated team

A valid driver's licence and personal vehicle, as regular time will be spent at both the Surrey and Abbotsford offices

What Will Make You Stand Out
An insurance licence, combined with experience developing and implementing insurance and risk-management solutions,

would be a strong asset.

The successful candidate will also bring a combination of personal accountability, initiative, sound decision-making and genuine curiosity. You should be comfortable building meaningful relationships with clients while remaining practical, organized and consistent in the execution of their financial strategies.

Who This Opportunity May Appeal To
This role may be particularly attractive to an experienced Financial Planner or Wealth Advisor currently working within a bank, credit union, investment firm or traditional financial institution who wants a different kind of advisory environment.

You may be looking for an opportunity where:

Client relationships are valued beyond sales quotas and product targets

You have enough capacity to understand clients and serve them properly

Financial plans are actively implemented rather than simply produced

Advice can consider the client's broader personal, family and business circumstances

Long-term relationships and quality of advice matter more than transaction volume

You can continue developing professionally alongside an experienced advisory team

Sana believes in growth, but believes that growth should come from doing excellent work for the right clients.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation of $80,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience

Bonus structure

Medical, dental and long-term disability benefits

Employer-supported professional development and continuing education

Mentorship and ongoing professional growth

Opportunities for both personal and career development

Team events and appreciation activities

In office parking at both office locations

Business casual work environment

This is an in-office position, with time spent at both Sana Family Office locations in Surrey and Abbotsford.

Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility when required to support clients and the practice.

The team works with clients both in person and virtually.

You will be joining a close-knit, highly productive wealth management and family office team that takes its client responsibilities seriously while maintaining a personable and supportive working environment.

The culture values curiosity, continuous learning, personal accountability and mutual respect. Team members work hard, support one another and share a commitment to providing thoughtful, proactive and personalized advice.
