Collective Agreement)Employee Group:C.U.P.E.Posting No.:127009Closing Date:May 21, 2026Job ProfileThe Traffic Signals Electronic Technologist, reporting to the Senior Technologist, primarily designs, constructs, installs, maintains, and manufactures traffic signal electrical/electronic and microcontroller systems. Approximately half of the time is spent in the Traffic Lab; the remainder is field work at intersections throughout the city. A comprehensive knowledge of traffic signal equipment, including specialized hardware that may need to be modified or fabricated, is required. The technologist must also be prepared to respond to emergency situations and perform maintenance as a First Responder.ResponsibilitiesDesign, construct, install, and maintain traffic signal equipment.Respond to traffic signal trouble calls and provide emergency service.Education and QualificationsDiploma from a recognized Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technologist program.Minimum of 2 years experience as an Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technologist and eligibility for the Certified Technologists & Technologist Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).Experience with Microsoft Office software is an asset.Knowledge of solid state logic,



integrated circuitry, microprocessor technology, and programming.Proficiency in electronic wiring, use of hand and power tools, and familiarity with testing and analysis equipment.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, and the public.Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.Strong written communication skills.Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff, the public, and external agencies.Robust problem‑solving skills and ability to react quickly to emergent situations.Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations, and procedures applicable to the work area.NOTE:Applicants educated outside Canada must have education comparable to the Canadian minimum qualification; a recognized Canadian assessment report is required.Equity and Inclusion:The City encourages applications from equity groups that have been historically underrepresented, including Indigenous Peoples, Women, Racialized Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples, and Newcomers.
