The Law Society of New Brunswick is the regulatory body responsible for governing the legal profession in the province of New Brunswick. Its primary role is to protect the public’s interest by ensuring that lawyers in the province meet high standards of competence, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

We are seeking a Trust Compliance Auditor to join our team of professionals. You will play a key role in the planning, administration, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Trust Account Audit Program of the Law Society in accordance with the Law Society Act, 1996, the Uniform Trust Account Rules, and the Code of Qualified Conduct.

The Trust Compliance Auditor will report to the Executive Director and take functional direction from the Senior Legal Counsel as it pertains to trust accounts administration and audit programs.

This position is in Fredericton, however, the Trust Compliance Auditor may work remotely. Travel throughout New Brunswick will be required. The ability for you to work proficiently in both French and English is a must for both written and verbal communications..

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist in the planning, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the Trust Account Audit Program;

Develop annual audit plans, audit priorities, and risk-based audit strategies in consultation with the Executive Director and Senior Legal Counsel;

Conduct audits and investigations throughout New Brunswick;

Communicate findings and evidence in reports and presentations;

Research and develop policies, procedures and standards;

Provide guidance on trust compliance and information to members and the public.

Qualifications and experience





A completed degree in Business or other relevant discipline from a recognized Canadian postsecondary institution;

Membership in good standing with the Association of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of New Brunswick or eligibility for membership in good standing is required within a reasonable timeframe;

A minimum of five (5) years of progressive independent client audit experience;

Knowledge of the Law Society's Uniform Trust Account Rules and experience with compliance audits in a regulated environment are considered assets.
