The Role
GrizzlyTrek is hiring an experienced grader operator to join our valued client's team at the Mildred Lake site north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a full time rotational position on a 14 days on, 14 days off schedule, paying $29.00 to $40.00 per hour based on verified seat time. Camp room and board is provided.
You will run a motor grader on active oil sands roads, keeping haul roads, ramps, and access roads crowned, drained, and safe for around the clock traffic. The grader is your seat, not a rotation through whichever machine is short that day.
What You'll Do
Run a motor grader on haul roads, access roads, ramps, and lease roads across the site
Blade, crown, and ditch road surfaces to hold shape, shed water, and keep drainage open
Cut and maintain in-pit ramps, berms, and windrows to the mine plan and site standards
Handle winter maintenance: snow removal, ice blading, and sanding to keep roads open through freeze up
Prep and finish grade for pads, laydown yards, and construction access
Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, grease the machine, change cutting edges, and report defects early
Follow dispatch and radio protocol around ultra class haul traffic, and take part in hazard assessments and toolbox talks
What You Bring
Verifiable motor grader seat time, mine site or heavy civil preferred
Able to hold grade and carry a crown on a haul road without someone standing over you
Valid Class 5 licence and reliable transportation to the pickup point
CSTS-2020, H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid, or the willingness to hold them before start
Able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test and work 12 hour shifts, days and nights
Able to live in camp and work a 14 days on, 14 days off rotation year round
Preferred Qualifications
Oil sands or mine site experience with a current regional site orientation
Seat time on Cat 16 or 24 class graders, and GPS or laser grade control
Dozer, loader, water truck, or rock truck time as a backup skill, plus Ground Disturbance Level 2
Work Setting
Active oil sands mine site in the Mildred Lake area north of Fort McMurray, worked year round in all weather.
Camp accommodation with room and board provided for the full rotation.
12 hour shifts on a rotating day and night schedule across a 14 days on, 14 days off rotation, including weekends and holidays.
Site access requires a clear pre-access drug and alcohol test and a completed site orientation before your first shift.
What We Offer
Camp room and board provided for the full rotation
Year round road maintenance work rather than a seasonal spread
A dedicated grader seat rather than a rotation across whatever machine is short
