As an ambassador of The Sundial Hotel Whistler, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Team, ensuring the hotel, suites, equipment, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards.
The Maintenance Supervisor will lead and support the maintenance team in completing preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and daily operational tasks. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall experience of our guests, employees, and owners.
The Maintenance Supervisor will also work closely with the General Manager and other department leaders to prioritize maintenance needs, coordinate work orders, manage contractors and suppliers, and ensure projects and repairs are completed efficiently and professionally.
This role extends beyond the job description—team members will be trained across various departments and may be required to assist wherever needed to deliver seamless, exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Communication Supervise, support, and provide direction to the Maintenance Team
Coordinate daily maintenance tasks and prioritize work based on urgency and operational needs
Foster strong communication and cooperation across all departments, suppliers, contractors, and partners
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of both the Sundial Boutique Hotel and Carleton Lodge layouts, facilities, and equipment
Communicate maintenance concerns and operational updates clearly with management and other departments
Support the training and development of maintenance team members
Safety Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Ensure the Maintenance Team follows all health and safety policies and procedures
Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals, tools, equipment, and protective gear
Identify, report, and address safety concerns promptly
Maintain a full working knowledge of emergency procedures,



including the hotel fire panel
Ensure hot tub inspections and chemical testing are completed and properly documented
Administration Assign, complete, and track Work Orders and charge-backs
Monitor and follow up on outstanding maintenance requests
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and documentation
Respond to emails and team requests in a timely and skilled manner
Assist management with maintenance planning, purchasing, and budgeting when required
Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers as needed
Maintenance & Facilities Oversee and execute the hotel's preventative maintenance program
Complete and monitor maintenance requests and inspections throughout the properties
Perform and oversee minor repairs, including drywall, tile, locks, fixtures, plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs
Troubleshoot and assist guests with in-room technology and equipment issues
Ensure common areas, building exteriors, garbage areas, and equipment rooms are maintained
Coordinate snow removal and salting of common areas as required
Monitor hotel equipment and facilities and proactively identify maintenance needs
Ensure suites and common areas are maintained to hotel standards
Assist with larger maintenance projects and renovations as required
Security & Emergency Response Patrol hotel properties (Sundial and Carleton Lodge) as required
Respond to hotel alarms, maintenance emergencies, and incidents promptly
Liaise with external authorities, including police and fire services, when necessary




Complete and file occurrence reports
Monitor property conditions and address potential security or safety concerns
Support the hotel’s emergency response procedures

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guest and owner information

Manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Work well independently and as part of a team
Job Requirements Previous maintenance, facilities, or building operations experience required
Previous supervisory or leadership experience
Trade experience or certification in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or a related field is a strong asset
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Ability to work independently and confidently make decisions
Valid driver's licence is an asset
$30-32 per hour
