We are currently accepting resumes for an experienced Terminal Maintenance person for our Smithers, BC operations. This position requires 40 hours a week with flexibility for 4 x 10 hr shifts Wednesday to Saturday if preferred.
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Nature & Scope of Position
Terminal maintenance personnel monitor all local assets (fixed and rolling) and ensure appropriate repairs are completed. They work with operations and the maintenance team to coordinate needed repairs effectively to maximize equipment uptime while also responding to urgent needs. They keep the local maintenance team and operations informed on potential issues and repair progress.
The tasks are wide ranging and ever changing as this position is the go-to person to keep the local operation and fleet moving smoothly.
This is a detailed oriented and physically demanding position performed in a wide range of working environments inside and out. Candidates must be an organized self starter who is physically capable of lifting, carrying, bending, crawling and reaching in all weather conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities The Terminal Maintenance Person’s duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Help plan and manage maintenance works according to company policy and planning schedules.
- Perform tasks efficiently.
- Address urgent needs promptly and effectively.
- Ensure equipment condition and repairs comply with government regulation and company policy.
- Perform equipment service and repairs within your ability on Semi trucks, a wide variety of trailers, forklifts and loader.
- Ensure buildings and their systems are in good operating condition and comply with regulation and company policy.
- Perform annual and semi-annual building system services and inspections.
- Perform and/or coordinate facilities maintenance and repair in areas that include, but not limited to, siding, fencing, doors, landscaping, snow removal, yard maintenance, paint, electrical and plumbing.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the local operations and work with the Fleet Manager to optimize uptime and function.
- Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial transportation requirements.
- Perform repairs in the shop, yard,
offices and roadside as needed.
- Make improvement and preventative repair recommendations.
- Uphold company values and ensure our professional reputation and commitment to service shows in your work.
- Adhere to and promote all company safety protocols, reporting any hazards or incidents immediately.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years in a maintenance / mechanic role that is applicable to our operations and needs.
- Commercial Transport Mechanic or Trailer Mechanic certification is preferred.
- Equipped with appropriate tools
- Valid Class 3 license with air brake endorsement. Class 1 license preferred.
- Commercial driving experience is an asset.
- Have worked outside in all weather conditions experienced in northern BC.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership.
- Proficient reading, writing and speaking English.
- Computer and presentation skills. Experience with office 365 and TruckMate software is an asset.
- Organized and able to function effectively in a constantly changing environment.
