WHY DO WE NEED YOU? The Territory Manager is responsible for providing both internal and external service to current customers as well as the creation and facilitation of new business.

The Territory

Manager will reach their business targets through effective management of designated territories and physical visits to customer sites. This individual will develop ongoing, profitable relationships with customers and continually maintain a professional image of the company. Integrity, passion, and in-person presentational skills are essential for this role.

Duties And Responsibilities The responsibilities and accountabilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Sales & Business Development

- Develop and execute sales plans for the assigned territory.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in the steel industry, targeting key industries such as construction, manufacturing, and fabrication.
- Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities.
- Grow sales and tonnage with existing customers.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and achieve established revenue and margin targets.
- Prepare quotations and negotiate pricing within company guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to utilize available plant capacity with profitable business.
- Work alongside the Customer Service Coordinator, providing guidance, support, and foster their ongoing development and performance.

Customer Management

- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key decision-makers.
- Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews.
- Understand customer requirements, production schedules and future demand.
- Act as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers.
- Resolve customer concerns and coordinate internal resources to ensure timely resolution.

Forecasting & Internal Coordination

- Provide accurate customer forecasts to Planning and Operations.
- Communicate changes in customer demand, specifications and delivery requirements.
- Ensure customer commitments are aligned with plant capabilities and capacity.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Planning, Quality, Supply Chain and Shipping to deliver customer requirements.

Steel & Technical Knowledge

- Develop a strong understanding of steel grades, gauges, widths, tolerances and coil specifications.
- Understand slitting capabilities, processing requirements, packaging and shipping requirements.
- Translate customer specifications into clear manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure quoted business is technically and operationally achievable.

Market & Commercial Management





- Monitor competitors, market conditions, customer trends and pricing.
- Maintain pricing discipline and protect company margins.
- Identify opportunities for price improvement and increased customer share of wallet.
- Provide management with relevant market intelligence and sales forecasts.
- Monitor territory performance against budget and forecast

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU? Main Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field is an asset.
- 5+ years of outside sales or business-development experience, preferably in steel, metal processing, manufacturing or industrial distribution.
- Experience selling steel, coil products or manufacturing services is an asset.
- Strong understanding of steel products, markets, and industry dynamics.
- Strong commercial and financial understanding, including pricing and margins.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive sales growth.
- Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to provide solutions to client challenges.
- Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.

- Frequent travel
- Combination of office-based work, customer visits and time in the manufacturing plant.
- Must comply with all company and customer safety requirements, including required PPE when visiting industrial facilities.




- Regular use of a computer, telephone and CRM/sales management systems.
- Overtime as required

- Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to coworkers and teams.
- Ensure that co-workers work safely and report all unsafe practices.

- Ensure all manual handling will be performed using proper safe techniques.
- Report all hazards, accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly to the supervisor/manager.

Provided is the local pay range for this position, which is $80 000-$95 000 annually, as well as a Sales Incentive discretionary bonus.
