Cambria is currently looking for an instructor to support delivery of our Therapeutic Recreation Activity Assistant (TRAA) program. This program will be delivered at our Surrey Campus with the potential for some online instruction.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

The TRAA Instructor will be required to contribute to the academic success of students and the program by:

- Delivering instruction that meets the course competencies and program objectives as set out in the curriculum.
- Evaluate student performance in a timely manner.
- Enhance the program by inviting guest speakers as well as organize relevant field trips.
- Monitor and review students during practicum, if required. Under direction of the Director of Education, the TRAA Instructor will ensure students are able to progress through their practicum placements safely and successfully while maintaining full compliance with all curriculum and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

1. Degree or diploma from a recognized university or College in a relevant discipline. Certification in Therapeutic Recreational Activity is preferred.
2. Two or more years of full-time experience in Therapeutic Recreation Activity or related roles in a complex care or similar facility
3. Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners

Skills and Abilities:

1. Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of instruction.
2. Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
3. Ability to motivate and inspire students.
4. Good time management and organizational skills
5. Patience and the ability to manage stressful situations

Duties and Responsibilities: including but not limited to

1. Orientation of recent students at practicum facilities
2. Provide all instruction and supervision required in practicum
3. Administer and grade written assignments, exams, skills checks,
4. Professional rubrics and marking of learning outcomes carefully and diligently
5. Hold consultations with weaker students to enhance learning
6. Address attendance issues or other problems as they arise
7. Accompany and oversee students at practicum sites
8. Stay informed about changes and innovations in the field
9. Implement and adhere to all college policies and procedures.

Expected Start Date: 2026-09-07 Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 per week
