Become an integral part of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant supporting students with exceptional needs. This role is vital in nurturing student well-being and advancing academic support.
In this 100% term position, you will collaborate closely with teachers and qualified staff to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, and more. Your responsibilities will include implementing special programs, providing physiotherapy support, and helping students with various learning challenges. A flexible approach is essential to meet the varying needs of students in this dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other exceptional needs
• Assist in implementing academic and special programs
• Participate in pool programs and provide physiotherapy exercises
• Modify programs as necessary for several learning disabilities
• Engage in yard duties and assist with toileting needs
Requirements:
• Community college diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience with special needs children
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification preferred
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive technologies
