An Overview Of Your Future Role At BBA You’ll join our team of about 20 specialists in hydropower plant mechanical engineering, working on hydroelectric projects across Canada. You’ll be based in our Mont‑Saint‑Hilaire, Québec City, Montréal or Saguenay office. You’ll also play a key role in all phases of engineering projects, ensuring exceptional technical quality of deliverables. You’ll visit sites occasionally and identify and develop new business opportunities as they arise. You’ll also serve as a mentor to support the growth of our Hydropower team

Manage various mechanical projects involving hydromechanical valves, cranes and gantries, overhead cranes, cofferdams and associated auxiliary equipment

Play a leading role in client communications for your mandates

Be a key team member in executing small to major greenfield and retrofit projects

Solve complex problems related to mechanical components in hydropower plants

Identify, plan and organize client needs to ensure equipment used to operate, maintain and secure hydroelectric structures are safe and reliable from the feasibility study to the detailed equipment design phase

Lead onsite inspections, diagnostics, commissioning and testing

Represent your area of expertise and promote it to potential clients and specialized groups in the hydropower sector

Mentor and coach junior engineers by actively sharing your knowledge and encouraging skill development within the team

Summary of job requirements

University degree in mechanical engineering

From 5 to 14 years of relevant experience in the heavy industrial mechanics sector

Relevant experience with inspections, condition assessments, installation, commissioning and testing

Certified member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (CEP) or registered P.Eng. with another Canadian province

Driver’s licence

Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects

Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec

Asset: experience with hydropower plants and dams
