Ignite Construction Limited (ICL) is a Richmond-based, Canadian-owned renovation and construction company serving Richmond, Vancouver and Burnaby. Our work includes bathrooms, tile and shower surrounds, carpentry, decks, exterior repairs, framing, drywall, flooring and commercial/strata improvements. Licensed electrical, plumbing and HVAC work is completed by qualified subcontractors.

Position Summary

ICL is hiring a tile and bathroom professional who can build and board wood or steel-stud bathroom walls, install Schluter or a similar membrane system, complete floor and shower-surround tile, direct a helper, and coordinate work in phase with electrical and plumbing subcontractors. The finished installation must be supported by correct preparation and waterproofing.

Responsibilities

- Perform selective bathroom demolition while protecting adjacent finishes.
- Build/modify wood or light-gauge steel-stud walls; install backing and board bathroom/shower areas ready for membrane and tile.
- Install Schluter or a comparable approved waterproofing membrane/system to manufacturer requirements.
- Prepare and level substrates; lay out, cut and install floor tile, shower/tub surround tile, niches and backsplashes.
- Grout, caulk, install trim/accessories and complete detailed deficiencies.
- Direct a helper on protection, preparation, cutting, mixing, handling and cleanup.
- Coordinate phasing, penetrations and site readiness with ICL electrical and plumbing subcontractors.
- Maintain dust control, clean tools and organized materials.

Required

- 3+ years of bathroom/tile experience, or equivalent portfolio and demonstrated skill.
- Proven Schluter or similar membrane installation and wood/steel-stud framing,



backing and boarding ability.
- Able to complete floor tile and shower/tub surrounds independently to a qualified standard.
- Able to guide a helper and sequence work with licensed electrical and plumbing subcontractors.
- Understands substrate preparation, waterproofing, layout and movement-joint requirements.
- Safe use of tile saws, grinders, mixers, levels and renovation tools.
- Valid driver licence, reliable vehicle and appropriate core tools.
- Reports concealed concerns before cover-up; no preparation shortcuts.

Preferred assets

- Large-format tile, mosaics, niches, mitred edges or complex layout.
- Carpentry, drywall, flooring, vanity/cabinet or paint-preparation skills.
- Recognized tile-trade or waterproofing-manufacturer training.

Paid assessment Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a paid, supervised 4-8 hour skills assessment. The assessment wage and hours will be confirmed in writing. ICL does not use unpaid productive tryouts.
